🍔 The bar you're sitting at inside this Nunica tavern is an original Brunswick, and it's been there since 1933.
That's the year Fred "Turk" Allison opened the place as a pool hall right after Prohibition ended.
A dance floor went in, then tables, then a kitchen. Ninety-plus years later, Turk's Tavern is still standing on the same stretch of Cleveland Street, still using recipes from those early days (including a pork chop recipe that's over 60 years old).
Today the menu goes well beyond pool hall bar food.
Burgers are hand-pattied daily, desserts are made from scratch, and the weekend prime rib draws people from well outside Ottawa County. The onion rings alone are worth the drive.
Small town. Big food. And no reservations, so get here early if you can.
