🎉 There are TWO reasons to stop by the southbroadmercantile this weekend: to check out these stunning new window displays by Phillip Kadowaki, and to celebrate the Mercantile’s ONE YEAR anniversary!

There simply wouldn’t be a Wren without the Mercantile. When Bo and John offered me the opportunity to pop up in this shop, I couldn’t have imagined the amount of fun we’d have, and the dream it would allow me to chase.

As a first-time business owner, I have learned so much from operating beside Bo inside the Mercantile. As a Downtown resident, I have been grateful more times than I can count for the amount of passion and expertise that has been poured into keeping these doors open.

Cruise by this weekend and celebrate this accomplishment and wonderful space, and join the Mercantile’s brand new rewards program!

🚀 10 DAYS TO GO! 🚀

I am so grateful to everyone who has supported our campaign so far. We are SO CLOSE to our funding goal for the debut collection of Wren coffee and goods, to launch alongside our first permanent location in Downtown Norwich coming this fall.

Here’s what we’ve been up to since the campaign launch:

👀 Apparel and drinkware designs are in the works! Designs embedded in Norwich, with coffee at the center, that you’ll want to use over and over again.
🧪 The perfect blend of coffee beans is being experimented with, soon to be bagged and offered for purchase.
📐 The design of the space and the expanded menu is ongoing!

With support from our community, we can keep working toward all of the above and deliver these products for you.

Hi, I’m Dana! I opened Wren Coffee as a pop-up cart inside the southbroadmercantile in Norwich on August 30th, 2025, providing espresso-based drinks, pour over coffee, cold brew, matcha, chai, and bagels exclusively on the weekends for Downtown Norwich and beyond.
For almost a year, we’ve shared space with a beautifully curated shop, met people from all over the country passing through, and built relationships with neighbors.

Along the way, we never lost site of the vision that Wren is more than just coffee. This Kickstarter is about bringing to life our first line of locally-roasted coffee beans and thoughtfully designed goods inspired by the rituals, adventures, and everyday moments that have shaped Wren from the very beginning. From our signature espresso blend to branded merchandise, this collection is designed to let people carry a piece of Wren with them long after the last sip.

The business is named after a small bird with a remarkable ability to adapt, explore, and make a home wherever it lands. That journey mirrors my own. Born in New York, raised in Arizona, and shaped by the many places I’ve lived since, I’ve learned that home is both a place and a feeling—something we carry with us. Our motto, Fly High, Stay Grounded, reflects the idea that we should pursue new opportunities, embrace adventure, and dream boldly, while remaining connected to our roots, our values, and our community. Our tagline will be at the center of this collection. We believe the objects we use every day can become special reminders of that place you stumbled upon during your trip, or that place outside of the house that feels just like home.

Espresso is at the core of most of Wren’s menu, it’s the main character. We love building different drinks with it as the base, or sipping it slowly to jolt us awake when we need the boost.

Wren’s Kickstarter helps bring the espresso we serve at the bar into your home so you can enjoy it as much as we do, a premium blend of Ethiopian and Peruvian beans dialed in for the perfect combination and depth of flavor by Knuckle Down Coffee.

Funding will also be used to design and produce the retail bags, so that they hit the shelves in style when Wren Coffee + Goods opens later this year.

Wren’s Kickstarter is LIVE, and here’s a sneak peek of the video that tells the whole story.

From the moment I decided to do this, I’ve wanted this business to be centered around— but not only about— the coffee. This campaign is about creating the items that let people carry a piece of Wren with them long after the last sip.

The funding will go toward the debut of the first Wren Coffee + Goods collection alongside the physical expansion:

▪️our signature espresso roast created with my literal neighbor Knuckle Down Coffee (doesn’t get much more local than that!)
▪️custom design of coffee bag labels and a brand new Fly High, Stay Grounded merchandise design
