A message from Ben Levin, Emily Lichter, and Matt Wool of Lichter & Levin:
Closing Lichter & Levin was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make. We know how painful and confusing it has been for our staff, our guests, and the community that supported us from the beginning.
From the outset, this project was built with real belief, significant investment, and trust in experienced restaurant leadership. When it became clear that the business was not financially sustainable despite ongoing efforts to adjust and improve, we faced a reality no one wanted: continuing operations would have led to deeper losses and greater risk to everyone involved.
As owners, the responsibility for that decision rests with us.
Our intention was never to mistreat employees or walk away lightly. We are deeply grateful to the team who showed up every day and to the community who believed in the vision. The closure does not reflect a lack of care — it reflects a difficult judgment call made after exhausting our ability to keep the business viable. We recognize that in the heaviness of closing, our employees were not as well taken care of as they should have been.
We understand emotions are high, and we respect that. We ask for compassion as we all process the end of something we hoped would succeed.
Thank you to everyone who supported Lichter & Levin.
