I had this dream one day to make empanadas for a living, and I made it happen. I got to live the dream for over two years. Buena Compañía has been the best (and worst) thing I have done in these 26 years on the planet.
I know I’ve never worked harder before in my life. I know I truly gave it all my time, energy, effort, love, blood, sweat, and tears.
I handmade empanadas, Mofongo, shared Puerto Rican cuisine with the Charleston community, and cherished the Good Company I was blessed with. I created unique, flavorful and abuela-inspired recipes.
Besides getting to network and grow alongside some of the most wholesome people, the highlight of running this was building our brand alongside several special places, like Wind & Waves Brewing, Two Blokes, Prophet Coffee, and Odyssey Bottle Shop.
I will miss a lot of things about this venture, and cherish the beautiful memories/ experiences I have gained doing all this.
We are all about moving forward, finding out what works and what doesn’t.
Thank you to everyone who tried our food, who returned for more. To all of those who made their Saturday plans a commute to Wind & Waves Brewing to drink great beer next to incredible Puerto Rican food, and enjoying live music, we solute you! You kept me going for a long time.
