Dearest gentle reader of the harbor,

It appears the lazy days of summer have met their untimely demise. ⚓️

Across the coast, a most disturbing sound can once again be heard before sunrise…

Alarm clocks.

Children who spent the summer effortlessly awake until midnight have suddenly become incapable of opening their eyes before 7 a.m. Parents can be spotted negotiating with small humans who swear they “literally cannot go to school today” despite it being approximately day three.

Backpacks are already disappearing. Shoes cannot be located. Someone forgot their lunch on the counter. And somewhere, a mother is sitting silently in the Black Anchor drive-thru wondering if ordering a second espresso before 8 a.m. is considered self-care.

Darling, it is. ☕️

To the parents: stay strong.
To the teachers: Godspeed.
To the students: summer will return… eventually.

And to anyone attempting to function before the first bell rings—The Black Anchor has coffee.

Naturally, I shall be watching the chaos unfold.
