Hi, Moon Friends 🌙 it has taken me awhile to find the right words to express our immense gratitude for this amazing community. There have been a lot of tears and emotional moments for us at The Moon the last couple of days. The love and support you have shown us is beyond words and is truly unbelievable. I could never have imagined this...and it is overwhelming in what it means to us.

Your incredible donations have afforded us the time to get back where we need to be after this huge loss, it has made up for lost hours and crucial inventory, and the vital revenue we need to keep us going. What you have done is profound and magical and will never be forgotten.

A small independent restaurant like The Moon is much more than a restaurant.

It is livelihoods, dreams, futures, memories, a place for people to come together, a place for people to shine and be themselves, a culture, a refuge, and a second home to many. With the state of our world, every day is a challenge to keep going, you have helped us to.

There are not enough words to express how grateful and loved we feel.

We promise to repay this amazing gesture of love everyday in what we do and who we are. We promise to keep getting better for each other and for this incredible community.

To be so beautifully reminded what The Moon means to people is truly EVERYTHING. ❤️

Hi Moon Friends. This is not an easy post for me to make. The storm last night was devastating to us. With our limited building space and limited capital we have been unable to support or afford a backup generator on site to supply needed power to all of our refrigeration when a mighty storm like this occurs.

A sushi restaurant's inventory is not easily replaced. As owner, I did all I could to save some of our product from spoilage but a lot of inventory was lost last night due to the prolonged power outage on Main Street as a result of the storm. The power is still out for us as of 5am.

Because of this inventory loss, we will have to take Monday and possibly Tuesday to re-prep and restock our inventory to be operationally functional again. This is a huge hit for a small business and independent restaurant like The Moon. Insurance does not cover weather-related loss and this storm will cost us nearly $10,000 in needed funds and revenue when all said and done. It hurts a lot. Especially with the challenges and razor thin margins of the last 6 years and especially this last year. It is pretty devastating.

With the state of our economy and high operational costs it has been so tough for any small business to see a profit or build capital these last years. Even a popular spot like The Moon. It is so incredibly hard. We believe in honesty and transparency and that is why this post is being written this morning.

We love and support this community with all of our heart and we know you feel the same way towards us...and we are humbly asking for your help now. We NEED your support.

If can please come see us next week or please purchase a gift certificate for a future visit. We know things are hard for everyone right now but any gesture to support The Moon would mean the world to us.

I did not want to make a gofundme. I really didn't, but I know I have to do all I can to protect this incredible staff and this incredible restaurant. Every little bit helps. We believe transparency builds long-lasting trust more than anything and we simply need all the help we can get after this storm. We need you.
