Due to a LOUSY economy and SKY-HIGH utility bills, I was forced to close The BBQ Pit, as of today. I appreciate everyone's support and patronage of the business; I certainly wish things would have turned out differently.

"Best In Smoke" premiers May 8th on Food Network at 9pm. I'm guessing this replaces "Pitmasters" this year. Several well known Pitmasters compete for the title of "Best In Smoke" and $50,000. Amy Mills from 17th Street will be a judge; she's Mike Mills' daughter. Among those competing is "Famous Dave" Anderson, Big Bob Gibson's Chris Lilly and Brad Orrison from The Shed. BBQ TV, gotta love it.

Even though the MLB season is in its first month, I can't believe how good the Royals are playing. They're tied for 2nd place having won 6 of their first nine games. And while Spring Training records mean nothing, the Royals had the best percentage of all teams. They finished with a 20 and 10 win/loss record and a .667 team average. I wonder if.......

If you're ever in Kansas City, swing by Bichelmeyer Meats. This place is incredible and it's 60 foot long meat case is its centerpiece. They carry a wide variety of sausages, CAB Briskets and Kobe beef. Wondering if they're good? They are the official meat purveyor for The American Royal BBQ cook-off.

Our first full week is under our belt now. A few bumps along the way, but we expected that. All-in-all, things went great and all the customers loved their BBQ. Gotta love that. Barbecue like no other!
