Our Story

Restaurant has always been a passion of my wife, Mia, she started her first restaurant when she was in her early 20’s, and then switched career and became a Gemologist after she sold her restaurant, worked for some of the largest and prestigious Jewelry Stores in Chicago, after few years she met a Filipino man and fell in love, later they opened their successful Jewelry Store in Des Plaines then moved to Deerfield.

Mia always asked, how come there is no Filipino Restaurant that can accommodate 250-300 people? Filipinos always have parties, especially there is a big Filipino population in Chicago, Mia wanted a place where Filipinos can call it home-sweet-home, have coffee with friends with your favorite bibingka, maybe halo-halo on a hot day, or hot mami or lomi soup on cold days, we were inspired by the Filipiniana Restaurant also located in Niles, after they closed down 6-7 years ago, my wife always say, someday we will open a restaurant just like that but maybe a little bigger with a private banquet room to hold parties and events.

Fast forward, after 7-8 years, Mia’s wish became a reality, we found the perfect location in Niles with plenty of parking, with over 7,000 square feet, a separate private banquet room good for 90 people, cafe and bakery, and a large dining room that accommodates over 200 people plus 30 at the cafe and bakery. So, Tita Mia’s Filipino Restaurant and Cafe is born.

We are proud to share to our dear customers our hand-picked filipino dishes that we love to eat, also a little selection of Korean dishes that my wife cooks at home including her favorite Korean Chicken wings.
