We're officially starting to put together our very first book order for In the Margins at Mercantile (the bookstore inside the coffee shop) and I need your help.

Mercantile update:

Our espresso machine has officially decided she deserves retirement... so after much debate, deep sighing, and staring at numbers we didn’t want to stare at, we officially pulled the trigger on a new espresso machine.

The good news? Better consistency, smoother workflow behind the bar, and faster drinks for y’all once she arrives.

So if you see us lovingly babying the current machine for a little longer… just know we’re all rooting for her!

In the meantime, come keep us company and order your favorite drink while the old girl hangs in there.

Remember when Mercantile was just the little spot up the street?

Sometimes it’s wild to think about how much has changed. From our tiny original space, figuring things out as we went, to where we are now… somehow y’all kept showing up for us.

We’ve watched friendships form here, babies grow up, regular orders become “the usual,” and so many conversations happen over coffee.

Mercantile (formerly called Coffee & Main) has never just been ours. It’s always felt like a little piece of the community.

We've spent the last few weeks crunching numbers, running reports, and trying to figure out what makes the most sense for Mercantile.

For the rest of June (and possibly July), we're going to try closing at 3:00 PM.

The simple truth is that after 3 PM we're spending more money staying open than we're making. We'd much rather focus our time and resources on the hours when y'all are actually here than keep the lights on for an empty shop.

We'll keep an eye on things over the next few weeks and see how it goes, but for now you'll find us here until 3:00 PM each day.

Thank you for keeping this little coffee shop going. We appreciate you more than you know.
