Celebrating Six years of Salt + Pepper🧂🌶️
It all started with an idea dreamed up while sailing to Maine. We asked ourselves a simple, slightly wild question: What if we invited strangers from the internet to join us for a multi-course vegan dinner?
At the time, it was the middle of the pandemic. We launched the tickets, stayed up all night prepping, and cooked a five-course meal for 30 people with barely any help. We were fueled by nothing but passion, adrenaline, and a hope that people would show up.
That first night sparked a journey we never could have predicted. What began as a single pop-up grew into hosting dinners across the state, which evolved into selling weekly fresh and frozen meals from a shared kitchen in Portland. That led us to catering, taking us to every corner of Maine, and eventually brought us to our brick-and-mortar home, Salt + Pepper Social.
Over the last six years, Salt + Pepper has grown and pivoted in so many beautiful ways to become the full-service restaurant it is today. Looking back, it’s surreal to think that two of us, starting with no roadmap and absolutely no idea what we were doing, managed to build this beautiful business together. We are proud we get to support our community by prioritizing local produce, art, and plant-based goods. Our mission is to share a kinder way of eating, rooted in our values and always welcoming.
We are so incredibly proud of the path we’ve traveled, but even more grateful for the community that walks it with us. Thank you for supporting us, trusting us with your meals, and being a part of our story.
Cheers to six years!
