Sparta is a restaurant and coffeeshop located in a historic diner in Downtown Newark, Ohio serving freshly prepared traditional American comfort food since 2012. Highlights of our menu include classic breakfast selections, fried chicken and waffles, burgers and sandwiches, grilled veggie salad, vegetarian and vegan, fruit smoothies and espresso bar. Three things make Sparta unique.

1)We focus on freshly prepared, locally-sourced produce, meats, dairy, and baked goods.

2)This historic downtown location with its preserved architectural features has become a magnet for social entrepreneurs and people with a passion for their community.

3) We are a business of Project Main Street providing employment and job training to community members in need. What that means is diners enjoy a rare experience in a welcoming, diverse environment surrounded by people making a difference in their community while enjoying a good meal or cup of coffee. But the real benefit is in knowing good food never did so much good in the community.
