🍫 Two-Tone Chocolate Twist Poğaça

Forget everything you’ve tasted at the bakery! Save this recipe and definitely give it a try. These soft, fluffy, two-tone chocolate twists are filled with creamy chocolate and baked until beautifully golden. One bite and they might become your new favorite! 😍

🥣 Dough
1 cup (240 ml) warm water
½ cup (about 120 ml) warm milk
½ cup (about 120 ml) vegetable oil
50 g margarine, melted
1 egg white
21 g fresh yeast
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
Approximately 550–600 g all-purpose flour
🍫 Cocoa Dough
Half of the prepared dough
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
🍫 Chocolate Filling
Spreadable chocolate
1 tbsp vegetable oil
🥚 For Brushing
1 egg yolk
👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Activate the yeast
Add the warm water and warm milk to a large mixing bowl. Crumble in the fresh yeast and add the sugar. Mix with your fingers until the yeast dissolves.

2. Prepare the dough
Add the vegetable oil, melted margarine, and egg white. Add the salt, then gradually incorporate the flour while kneading.

Start with about 550 g flour and add more only if needed. The dough should remain very soft and slightly sticky rather than firm.

3. Create the two colors
Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to one portion and knead until evenly incorporated.

Cover both doughs and let them rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

4. Prepare the filling
Mix the spreadable chocolate with 1 tablespoon vegetable oil until smooth and easy to spread.

5. Form the twists
Roll out the plain dough and cocoa dough separately into similar-sized rectangles.

Place one dough sheet over the other and spread a generous layer of chocolate filling over the surface. Trim the edges neatly, then roll the layered dough into a log.

Cut and twist the portions to create beautiful two-tone spiral shapes.

6. Second rise
Arrange the shaped poğaça on a parchment-lined baking tray. Cover loosely and let them rest for 15–20 minutes.

7. Brush and bake
Brush the tops gently with egg yolk.

Bake in a preheated 350°F (180°C) oven for approximately 20–25 minutes, or until beautifully golden brown.

✨ Serving Tip

Allow them to cool slightly before serving. The contrast between the soft cocoa dough, delicate plain dough, and creamy chocolate center makes these twists especially irresistible when served warm.

🍫 Chocolate Caramel Sandwich Cookies

Decadent chocolate sandwich cookies made with tender, rich cocoa biscuits, a generous layer of creamy caramel, and a luxurious white chocolate coating. Finished with an elegant dark chocolate drizzle, these cookies are perfect for gifting, dessert boxes, parties, or simply enjoying with coffee.

🍪 Chocolate Cookie Layers
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
¼ cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup (100 g) powdered sugar
¼ cup (60 ml) milk
1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
1 tsp (4 g) baking powder
¼ tsp (1 g) salt
🍯 Caramel Filling
1 cup (300 g) dulce de leche or caramel
🤍 White Chocolate Coating
2 cups (300 g) white chocolate
1 tbsp (15 ml) vegetable oil or shortening, optional
🍫 Chocolate Drizzle
½ cup (85 g) dark chocolate
👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the dough
Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light, smooth, and fluffy. Add the vanilla and milk and mix until combined.

Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until a soft chocolate dough forms.

Wrap the dough and chill for 20–30 minutes.

2. Cut and bake the cookies
Roll the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to approximately 5–6 mm thick.

Cut out equal-sized rounds using a cookie cutter and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking tray.

Bake at 340°F (170°C) for 10–12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool completely.

3. Add the caramel
Spread a generous layer of dulce de leche onto one cookie. Place another cookie on top and gently press to create a neat sandwich. Repeat with the remaining cookies.

4. Coat with white chocolate
Melt the white chocolate gently until completely smooth. Stir in the vegetable oil or shortening if needed for a thinner, smoother coating.

Dip each sandwich cookie into the melted white chocolate, allowing the excess to drip away. Place on parchment paper and let the coating set.

5. Add the chocolate drizzle
Melt the dark chocolate and transfer it to a piping bag or small piping cone.

Drizzle thin, elegant lines across the white chocolate-coated cookies.

Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving.

✨ Pro Tip

Store the cookies in an airtight container. For the best texture, let them rest for a few hours after filling—the caramel gradually softens the chocolate cookie layers, creating an especially tender bite.

🫓 Soft & Puffy Arabic Bread (Kuboos)

Soft, fluffy, and wonderfully tender, this homemade Arabic Kuboos is perfect for wraps, dips, grilled meats, curries, or simply enjoying warm with butter. The combination of milk and a little oil gives the bread a beautifully soft texture that stays tender after cooking.

🥣 Ingredients
4 cups wheat flour
½ cup warm water
½ tsp yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup milk
1 tbsp oil
Salt, to taste
👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Activate the yeast
Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5–10 minutes, until foamy.

2. Make the dough
Add the flour, milk, oil, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.

3. Knead
Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes, until smooth, soft, and elastic.

4. Let it rise
Cover the dough and place it somewhere warm. Let it rise until doubled in size.

5. Shape the dough
Divide into equal portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

6. Roll out
Roll each ball into a thin, round flatbread.

7. Cook
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place one flatbread onto the hot skillet and cook until bubbles appear and light golden-brown spots develop. Flip and cook the other side.

8. Keep soft
Immediately transfer the cooked kuboos to a clean towel and cover. Keeping them covered traps the steam and helps maintain their soft, fluffy texture.

✨ Serving Tip

Serve warm with hummus, labneh, grilled chicken, shawarma, curry, falafel, or fresh vegetables.
