A message for all the working mamas on my kids’ first day of school. (I know - early - we live in Florida!)

I have to tell myself this daily so I figured I would share:

I am a daughter of a bad a** working mama, who is also a daughter of a bad a** working mama. Two generations of women who work and worked hard. Whenever I am feeling guilty or sad that I cannot be there every second, I think about my own childhood. My parents both worked. We came home to a sitter every day. I didn’t care. I always felt my parents were present, loving, and fully devoted to me. On top of that, I was proud of their work!

Definitely had mixed feelings sending them off this morning. I could spend every second with my kids for the rest of my life and be happy. They are joy. At the same time, I am building skippieskids - something I love and believe in. Every day that I get to sit down and just work, without interruption, without distraction - I feel like I am flying.

Both things are true and I think that is okay.

Our kids do not need us there every second. They need to feel loved every second. There is a difference.
