Some dinners are about the food. This one was about the entire experience.
The Supper Club made its way to Da Filippo Autentica Cucina Italiana in Somerville, and this place is the definition of a hidden gem. Authentic Italian cooking, old-school hospitality, and the kind of family-run restaurant that makes you feel less like a customer and more like you were invited into someone’s home.
Chef and owner Filippo Russo spent time with us throughout the evening, sharing stories about his life, his family and the restaurant. And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, dinner ended with our own private session around the piano, with Filippo playing for the group.
You simply don’t get nights like this at a chain restaurant.
The food was outstanding, but it was the warmth, stories, laughter and personal touch that made this one special. Da Filippo isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. If you appreciate authentic Italian food and the increasingly rare art of true hospitality, put this place on your list.
