Before Gigino became a Tribeca institution, its story began somewhere a little unexpected: behind the camera.

Founded in 1994 by filmmaker Bob Giraldi and restaurateur Phil Suarez, Gigino brought together Giraldi’s creative eye and a deep appreciation for Italian cooking. Years later, the restaurant became the setting for Giraldi’s acclaimed film Dinner Rush, filmed almost entirely inside Gigino and released in 2001.

Three decades later, the cameras may be gone, but the setting remains. 323 Greenwich Street, still serving the neighborhood that made Gigino part of its story.
