THURSDAY NIGHT JAZZ - WEEK THREE
Set Times 7PM & 8:30PM

The Hammond is back in Harlem!

Harlem has a long, storied relationship with the Hammond organ — from legendary organ nights and neighborhood clubs to the musicians who helped define the sound of jazz in this city.

We are bringing back some of that tradition to Plowshares with both our Sunday Sessions and our newly established Thursday Jazz Night.

This coming Thursday, drummer Jason Tiemann is bringing in an incredible trio with some serious pedigree:

ED CHERRY — Guitar (https://www.edcherryguitar.com)

A veteran of the New York jazz scene, Ed Cherry is perhaps best known for his extraordinary 15-year association with Dizzy Gillespie, as well as his work with artists including Paquito D’Rivera, Roy Hargrove, Henry Threadgill, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Jimmy Smith. Cherry has a deep connection to the Hammond organ tradition — the B3 was part of his earliest experience playing jazz.

PAT BIANCHI — Hammond (https://www.patbianchi.com) Organ

One of today's leading Hammond B-3 organists, Pat Bianchi brings a deep knowledge of the jazz-organ tradition together with a powerful, contemporary voice. A longtime collaborator with Pat Martino, Lou Donaldson, Joe Locke, Ralph Peterson Jr. and others, Bianchi has released numerous albums as a leader and teaches jazz organ at Berklee College of Music.

JASON TIEMANN — Drums (http://jasontiemann.com)

Drummer, composer and educator, Jason Tiemann has worked with an impressive roster of jazz artists including Andy LaVerne, Ronnie Cuber, Gary Smulyan, Harold Mabern, Eric Alexander, Mike LeDonne and many others. His 2020 album T-Man featured Ed Cherry on guitar in an organ trio setting — making this reunion especially fitting for our Hammond night.
Together, they bring the sound of the classic organ-guitar-drums trio to Plowshares — with our own Hammond organ front and center.

No cover charge. Pay what you can / suggested donation.

We believe great live music should be accessible to everyone — and that Harlem should continue to be a place where this music can be heard, played and celebrated.

Come grab a drink and settle in for a night of Hammond-driven jazz and help us build a new home for community-supported (https://square.link/u/IAvekSl4) music in Harlem.
