❤Across the world we are facing uncertain times together as the COVID-19 crisis continues to evolve.
Candle Cafe, your beloved neighborhood institution for over 25 years, was forced to close as a result of the ongoing health crisis.
As you can imagine, this is an extreme financial hardship for our staff, many of whom support their families, both here and back home, with their weekly paychecks. We are worried about how we will pay rent and put food on our tables.
Many of us were already living paycheck-to-paycheck, hoping we could get enough hours or that the shift at the end of the month was busy enough to make rent. Now, the almost complete shutdown of the industry has left us with little to nothing. This fundraiser is organized by Mayssi Rodriguez and Stephanie Adesannmi, the managers at Candle Cafe. Funds are being raised directly for almost 50 Candle Cafe service workers, and will be used to pay bills, purchase food and necessary home supplies, and to pay for medicine.
If you're able to help, we are truly grateful for any amount! We hope to thank you with healthy compassionate food when we can re-open our doors.
