The word, tiella, takes its name from the Italian word for a cast-iron pan that is used for baking, grilling or frying.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
From the lands of Southern Italy, Neapolitan natives Executive Chef, Giuseppe Castellano with Partner, Mario Coppola bring the tastes of Authentic Italian Cuisine to the Upper East Side. In developing a distinguished seasonal menu, Chef Giuseppe Castellano creates each dish with only the most selective ingredients to prepare a range of delights from the most traditional Italian antipasti to the richest desserts. In serving an inspiring menu of peasant culinary traditions in an elegant and relaxing ambiance with its imported Italian décor, only adds to an unforgettable experience. It is so distinctive that dishes cooked in a tiella itself is known as a tiella. Inspired by the home cooked meals of Naples, Italy, TIELLA serves its’ signature tiella as a pizza-like appetizer baked in our wood-fired oven.
