Sushi SEN-NIN

Sushi SEN-NIN Matsunaga family owned and managed Sushi and Yakitori Bar. Since 1997. Sushi Sen-nin first opened its doors in 1997 on 34th Street, between Park and Madison.

Striving to introduce and provide what was once considered unfamiliar yet quality and delicious Sushi to guests, Chef Matsu has for many years studied and practiced the art of Japanese culinary so as to create an experience for his guests. Growing up in the restaurant business back home in Toyokawa, Japan, Chef Matsu discovered his passion and affinity for authentic Japanese cuisine (primarily sus

hi and sashimi) at an early age. He has along with his team succeeded in doing so for over almost two decades and continue to present his regular and new guests with only the freshest and appetizing dishes within a modern Japanese influenced ambiance. The authenticity of the sushi served can be seen in the unique variety of daily catches. Simple in presentation without all the gimmicks but true to the Japanese spirit and core, allowing for a pure and raw appreciation for sushi

Chef Matsu leading his team for our daily morning catering. Today’s head count is 120 !

Chef Matsu meticulously instructs and supports his assistants and team. An assistant chef isnt promoted to the sushi bar unless they can prepare our seasoned sushi rice, our fresh dikon and wasabi, assess and break down fish, debone and fillet. Once our team members have mastered those skills, they are recommended to advance to the sushi bar where they continue learning and developing their abilities to prepare rolls, sushi, and sashimi. Every one of our chefs at the sushi bar, regardless of ethnicity or age, is a skilled and talented chef who has worked diligently for over a range of 5-22 years to perfect their craft.

We’ve been getting many questions about the ethnic backgrounds of our sushi chefs: We wholeheartedly believe in diversity and inclusivity so our team members feel accepted, empowered and can thrive in an environment where they can succeed without discrimination.
