Dear Tocqueville Friends,

With a heavy heart, we share with you the unimaginable news of the untimely passing of our dear friend, and colleague, Bruno A. Da Silva Almeida,

Bruno was our beloved sommelier for over 8 years, the 2022 Hue Society Wine Educator of The Year, a Wine & Spirits Educator – Communicator, and a Portuguese Wine Advocate.

Bruno was cherished by all guests, industry and colleagues alike, and an integral part of his Tocqueville family.

His energetic presence, passion and astute wine knowledge was palpable nightly; we were so lucky to work beside him all these years.

He wont be remembered just for his professional attributes, but for his unparalleled charisma, having a heart of gold, being a wonderful friend and a great citizen of the world.

He is survived by his son and best friend, Alex Almeida, whom he was so proud of, always relishing in his kindness and academic achievements. Alex was actually following in dad’s musical footsteps (as you know, that's what brought our beloved to the U.S.).

There will be an update as soon as we have more information regarding services in the coming days.

Great to celebrate the gorgeous reopening of with so many old friends (Rita land Drew and Alain and George and Marco and Kathy and Ronnie and Shari and Kate and Jay and Sheri and Georgette and Isabelle) of course our Steven Hall who connects us all) and new ones (Kai and Shakera) from this industry we love.
