신정 or “Shinjeong” is the New Year celebration we know as January 1st. In Korea we celebrate another New Years based on the Lunar calendar called 구정 or “Gujeong”.
Cultural Significance:
Aging a Year: In Korean tradition, eating tteokguk signifies growing a year older. It is customary for families to gather and enjoy this dish together as part of the New Year celebration.
While traditional tteokguk is often made with brisket or ground beef, our addition of prime galbi elevates the dish to a luxurious version, perfect for marking the festive occasion.
The balance of tender rice cakes, savory broth, and rich galbi creates a deeply satisfying and meaningful dish that reflects the essence of Lunar New Year celebrations.
