Dear Friends - People have been asking how is Peter doing and what is next. Every night for 34 years Peter has known where he would be, in the store "shaking and baking", so now it has been an adjustment. He is making the most of it doing things the rest of us take for granted, dinner with friends, visiting friends outside of the city, sleeping late, going to museums and movies. He just found out about the sound amplification devices at movie theaters these days! Basically he is trying to adjust. He needs this period to regroup and won't be making any major decisions at this time. Peter really appreciates the suggestions and outreach from his friends and fans though.

Dear Hearts - As you know the restaurant is now closed. . To new beginnings!
Sunday was the auction and although not the success we expected it was good to get it accomplished. It needed to be done. If anyone ever needs input on what is involved with that we can talk. Hopefully you never have to deal with that process.
Things often take longer than expected and Monday was pick ups from the sales, donations and cleaning up into the early evening. We left it "sweep clean".
It was a long day before the New Years Eve celebrations.
Appropriately Peter got to enjoy the close of the day with smiles, good friends and fireworks in Central Park. It is good to be in the moment!
Many friends and fans have come forward with suggestions and wishlists. All possibilities are on the table but it will be a time of introspection for Peter to see what will be next.

Dear Friends - Saturday was the last day people were able to come by, get treats and show their love to Peter in Whole Earth Bakery. During the day they were still busy making pasta and pizzas while getting the store ready for Sunday's auction. By the end of the day instead of winding up in the kitchen Peter was "shaking and baking" making one gorgeous cake after the other. The last vanilla cake with apple-apricot and strawberry cream filling was incredible. This was all around standing room only as the store has the cases pushed aside and items all around for the sale.
Wonderful friends gave their thoughts in a closing circle around 1am, Haley & Simeon, Clarinda & Dick, Theo, David, Pete & Fran, Grace, Keith, Richie and so many more I can't recall names just now.
In the morning a friend and hero of Hurricane Sandy relief work, Miles, came to get hundreds of pounds of supplies to donate to Occupy Sandys kitchen in Bay Ridge. Awesome was the word! While there I made some more connections and OS will be there today.
Gotta go off to meet the auction tag guys now. Again, if you know anyone interested in buying equipment please send them.
More info about Peter's future will unfold with time. Stay tuned but be patient as "the dust has to settle".

Dear Hearts - There was a steady stream of friends and fans coming into the store Friday, some hearing about the closing for the first time. That is difficult to see the sadness in peoples faces. The LES has it's own culture and even people who are not vegan love this little mecca of love and community in their midst. We will all miss the soulfull, funky warmth of Whole Earth and Peter Silvestri.

Today was the last day for selling, and it looks like the cupboards are bare, but, come to a culinary miriacle and make sure to stop by Saturday! Peter has a large menu of yummy treats planned from pizza to pasta salad and pumpkin pie. Donations toward Peters future are appreciated but you have to insist. This man's generous heart has a hard time charging. (that comment will get some knowing smiles). Pickups are arranged to donate leftover food to Occupy Sandy and others.

If you can pitch in anytime on Saturday to help finish last minute readying the place for auction that would be wonderful!

Please tell any serious buyers especially of large restaurant equipment to come by at 2pm on Sunday. This is important. Do you know anyone starting up a food business or an existing one who needs walk in refrigerators or a wonderful pizza oven. Preferably for vegan pizza lol. Spread the word please. Kindly we ask only real buyers attend though because of lack of space. Thanks for understanding.

Dear Friends of Peters and the Whole Earth Bakery - Every day it unfolds what is next. Much to do. If you can stop by to help that would be great. Wonderful friends are stopping by to buy last minute favorites and say goodbye. Please remember to drop off your cards or leave your emails. We will probably be out of food by Saturday so still come by to spend time with Peter and friends at the end of the day. Volunteers to clean the basement and get ready for the auction are still needed every afternoon and big thanks to those who have been helping, Tony, Eddie, Susanne, Richard, Clarinda.

Whole Earth Bakery donated Carrot Cake with Almond Vanilla Tofu filling to OccupySandy at 520 Clinton last Saturday. That was thanks to Beth and Denise for their support of Whole Earth. Thanks! The cake was gorgeous with a big OS on the top. The hard working volunteers really appreciated it!

Monday the 24th Whole Earth will be closing around 6pm but if you need a pie, cake or any treat order it today and Peter will have it ready for you. Orders can be picked up on Christmas Day by appt so Peter is sure to be there.
Weds through Saturday Whole Earth will be open for business so come on over. We will also be readying the store for the closing auction on Sunday. Volunteers are very much needed so please let Peter know if you can stop by in the afternoons.

Dear Hearts - Your prayers and good wishes have helped some. Yesterday the Auctioneer changed the date to Sunday the 30th from the 27th so we have a few more days in the store. Keep the prayers coming and maybe the landlord will have a change of heart. : ). Several people are making good suggestions let’s see what happens.

Saturday the 29th will be the last day Whole Earth Bakery & Kitchen will be open for business. We will close around 6pm Saturday and that will be a good time for a party…come on by! Peter would love to see all his friends and fans any day up to closing really! Sunday the Auctioneer professionals come in to set up and the Auction is at 2pm that afternoon

Volunteers will be very much needed Weds, Thurs and Fri afternoons from 11am to whenever we get it done, hopefully early. Please consider coming by to help Peter get ready for the auction. We need to organize the store and the basement. That would be wonderful and so appreciated!
