🇵🇷 YOU CAN RIP THE STAR OFF OUR FLAG, BUT YOU WILL NEVER TAKE AWAY OUR PUERTO RICAN PRIDE!! 🇵🇷 ✊🏼
Once again, our beautiful Puerto Rican flag outside Kiosko 787 has been vandalized 💔
Back in June, someone decided to deface it with graffiti. Today, we discovered that someone had actually ripped the star right off our flag.
Seriously, what is wrong with people?
When we built Kiosko 787, we didn’t just open another restaurant. I poured our heart, my money, my sweat, and love for Puerto Rico into creating a little piece of our island right here in Brooklyn.
Every detail was intentional. Every color represents something. And that flag? That flag represents who we are, where our families come from, and the culture we are so damn proud to share.
To some, it’s just paint and wood on the front of a building.
To us, it’s our identity. Our heritage. Our roots. 🇵🇷
We’re a small, Puerto Rican owned business trying to keep our culture alive, serve the food our abuelas raised us on, and give our community a place that feels like home.
We already face enough challenges as a small business. Having to repeatedly repair something that means so much to us shouldn’t be one of them.
We don’t know who did this or why. But whoever you are, understand something:
You didn’t just damage a decoration. You disrespected something that means the world to an entire community.
And guess what?
WE’RE PUTTING THAT STAR RIGHT BACK WHERE IT BELONGS, TODAY! ⭐🇵🇷
Because no matter how many times you try to tear us down, our pride will always stand taller.
To our Boricua community and everyone who loves and respects Puerto Rican culture, we ask you to share this post. Not for sympathy, but because our culture, our businesses, and our community deserve respect.
You can take the star off our flag, but you can’t take Puerto Rico out of our hearts.
