My heart is so sad about the passing of Michel Rolland. He was Bordeaux based but had such a huge influence on the wine world in Argentina.
My first night in Mendoza and first bottle to drink was his Mariflor Pinot Noir.
For years I carried his wines at Estancia; Clos de los Siete, San Pedro Yacochuya and Mariflor and still do.
I am so fortunate to have finally met him in my hometown NYC. We dined together with his lovely niece , Virginie Rolland and some other magnificent oneophiles and I got to show him my beloved Estancia 460.
Let’s raise a glass to this iconic gentleman.
