Have you tried the Japanese favorite autumn delicacy, Ginnan? Ginko nuts, also known as ginnan (銀杏・ぎんなん) in Japanese, are a popular snack in Japan. These small, greenish nuts have a unique combination of subtle bitterness, nutty flavor, and a pleasant chewy texture. In Japan, they're commonly enjoyed by roasting them on skewers or adding them as toppings to various dishes. If you haven't tried them yet, this autumn season is the perfect opportunity to partake in Japanese autumn harvest traditions🍁

💡Fun fact: The Ginko tree is one of the oldest "nut" trees, having survived for approximately 150 million years. Surprisingly, 10% of all trees in Manhattan are ginkgos, making it the borough’s third-most-common species. Some New Yorkers humorously refer to them as "vomit trees" or "sh*berries" due to their distinctive odor🫢

Hey, spicy food lovers, we have good news for y’all! Introducing our new menu - Spicy Mochi aka Toppokki 🌶

You may already be quite familiar with this dish, especially if you’re interested in Korean culture or K-dramas (It can be seen in the first episode of the famous Netflix show, Squid Game) 🤩

Toppokki is enormously popular Korean street food and delicious comfort food. Toppokki literally means “stir-fried rice cake,” also spelled teobbokki or dukbokki (떡볶이) 🥢

If you haven’t had it before, think of it as soft, fluffy gnocchi in a spicy sauce. It’s super delicious and highly addictive! Yes, it is spicy but, not as painful spicy as wasabi 😌

Come spice up the rest of your week @ Izakaya Toribar 🔥
