Dame is hiring a general manager! This role is very close to my (Patricia’s) heart. Whenever I need a pep talk, I look back at photos of our popup days - now 6 years ago - & marvel at all that has come from that takeout window & all that we’ve learned since then.

So much of that Summer Club spirit is still alive at Dame today. Warm weekends we still hit 100+ covers in a 400 square foot space.

The general manager role at Dame involves a lot of hosting; you’re responsible for greeting & seating guests, keeping track of turn times (very important in a tiny 26-seat restaurant), managing a waitlist for walk-ins.

At Dame it’s more like conducting service from the host stand though. You see every table, every water glass, every guest. You make eye contact with the cooks & know when there’s food to run on the pass. You see when a server is caught at a table for too long & step in to take another order in their section. You clear plates & pour wine & direct lost Dante guests & make sure every birthday gets a candle.

It was the perfect size restaurant for me to learn how to be a manager (& a server & a host & a bartender for that matter), & it’s been a wonderful training ground for others in our company to transition to management.
