We’ve noticed you’re loving our new happy hour—so we’re going to kick it up a notch!

Our happy hour now includes fantastic food specials. Two terrific options to start:

- MINE MIX BASKET: our brand-new MINE fried popcorn chicken (only available during happy hour) and our ever-popular nori shio French fries, with a choice of our bleu cheese dip or our chili mayo dip
- SHISH*TO GARLIC: fried shish*to peppers with crispy garlic chips

Again, our happy hour runs on Sundays through Thursdays, for orders placed from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.!

Our new menu at features a top-notch, exciting selection of premium cup sake. We’ve noticed that many of our guests choose to take their empties home—totally cool with us!—to repurpose the cups as drinking glasses, pen holders, coin jars, candle holders, and more!

Here are a couple of our favorites and bestsellers from our selection (including three not in cups):
- EYEBALL/OYAJI (junmai ginjo), mild with hints of fruit and cotton candy
- RAT MAN/NEZUMI OTOKO (junmai ginjo), smooth and lightly bitter, medium dry
- KITARO (junmai ginjo), soft and refreshing, with a nose of vanilla and fresh steamed rice
- KID (junmai), round and smooth, subtle savory notes
- TAMANOHIKARI (junmai ginjo), light and crisp, a perfect companion to our noodles and hearty signatures
- KIRINZAN (futu-shu), light and clean, with notes of hazelnut
- FUNAGUCHI, lively and full, with hints of honeydew; packs a punch at approximately 19% ABV, excellent with our bites and fried snacks
- AWA YUKI SPARKLING, fizzy, crisp yet subtly sweet, with a dry finish and notes of rice
- SHIBATA POCKET BLACK, SHIBATA POCKET PINK (junmai ginjo), incorporating the softest waters in Japan, in fun “flask” bottles. Black is well rounded, while Pink is notably velvety.

Tomorrow, February 2 (Wednesday), we’re opening Gongo to the public for the first time!

Through February 13, we and are hosting a pop-up shōchū cocktail experience at (15 St. Marks Pl.), from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays. (We’ll also be presenting choice shōchū selections for a very special happy hour at from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. during this period.)

Shōchū (焼酎) is a distilled beverage, typically made from rice, barley, sweet potatoes, buckwheat, or brown sugar, with a delicate, distinct flavor and an ABV of about 25%. Some compare its clean, aromatic characteristics to those of sake, but shōchū is ultimately a delicious, versatile spirit that can be enjoyed on the rocks or mixed with other ingredients.
