Ah, March. 🌞 The start of spring and blooming flowers! Here are some fun facts about the third month of the year

☘️March 13th is the start of Daylight Savings. Don’t get to set your clocks 1 hour ahead!
☘️March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day! Nothing like green b**r and Irish Soda Bread!
☘️March 20th is the Spring Equinox-meaning first day of Spring!
☘️March’s birth flower is the Daffodil and it’s birthstone is the aquamarine

Fun Fact Friday!

Sick of this wet, rainy, snowy, icy, foggy weather? Let’s talk deserts. Did you know deserts are found on all 7 continents and they cover over 20.9 million square miles of the planet. The word desert means any place that gets less than 10 inches of moisture each year, which means, it loses more moisture than it gains. There are hot and COLD deserts, such as the desert in Antartica, which is actually the world’s largest desert! Living in the desert, you still can’t escape the cold, because at night the temperatures will drop below freezing.

Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know shivering actually warms the body? Shivering causes tightening of the skin and shaking of the muscles to generate heat! Not sure if all that shivering will help if you lived in Siberia. It gets so cold there, your breath can turn to ice in mid air!

Fun Fact Friday!

Snow. Love it or hate it? Here are some fun facts about the staple of winter.

❄️Snow is not white. Frozen water particles are translucent, however, the reflection of the sun’s light make it appear white

❄️There’s snow on Mars! Scientists detected a cloud of carbon dioxide snowflakes over the red planet’s southern pole

❄️Snowflakes can fall anywhere from
1 mph to 9 mph depending on environmental conditions in the air as they drop

❄️It takes roughly 1 hour for a snowflake to leave its cloud and reach the ground

Fun Fact Friday!

Who doesn’t love pizza?! Ever wonder how and where this delicious meal got its name?

Historians have been trying to solve this puzzle for years. The word could possibly come from the Greek word, “pitta”, or “pie”. Some argue it came from the Langobardic word, “bizzo”, meaning “bite”. The word pizza was first recorded in the Latin text in the year 997 and was then entered into an Italian-English dictionary in 1598 as “a small cake or wafer”.

Some say it all depends on how you define pizza. If you say pizza is a “flat bread baked in the oven”, then the word can be traced to the Babylonians, Israelites, and Egyptians. Or, if you say pizza is “bread with toppings”, then credit would be given to the Romans and Greeks.

We at Lina’s define pizza as “scrumptious”, “delicious”, “mouthwatering” and just plain ol “yummy”. Start your weekend off right with any large mouthwatering pizza!
