Turns out you can’t keep every mixer, speed rack, tabletop, pan, chair, espresso machine, random shelf, and “this’ll be useful one day” thing forever.

We’ve learned a few of these lessons the expensive way.

Chargebacks and scams seem to be getting more sophisticated, so I wanted to share a few things that have helped us. Hopefully they save another restaurant from losing money.

A few quick wins:

✅ Turn on 3D Secure (3DS) for every online order if your POS supports it.

✅ Stop taking credit card numbers over the phone. Send a secure payment link instead. Most POS systems already have this feature.

✅ Never handle payment or cash requests over the phone. If someone claims to be the owner, your POS company, a vendor, the bank, or law enforcement, hang up and call them back using a trusted number. Scammers can mirror your owner’s phone number.

✅ If possible, record your to-go packaging station. It can be valuable evidence when fighting false “missing item” claims.

✅ Use tamper-evident seals on delivery orders and review chargebacks regularly for patterns.

We’re all fighting the same battles, and if this checklist saves even one restaurant from a fraudulent chargeback or scam, it’s worth sharing.

World, meet Creole Cream Clouds.

We’ve been working on this for a while now and we’re excited to finally bring it to you.

With the help of Creole Cream Cheese, we’ve formulated our forever cold topper for adding to any of our iced drinks. It’s creamy, tangy, bright and just the right amount of sweet - think cheesecake but lighter and brighter - and it’s uniquely New Orleans.

To kick off the launch, we’ve partnered with our friends for inaugural seasonal flavors based on some New Orleans Classic Snoballs.

In addition to our original Creole Cream Cloud, for summer we’ll have Hansen’s Nectar Cream Cloud, Wedding Cake Cream Cloud and Satsuma Cream Cloud. Mix and match them however you like!
