The road goes on forever but the party’s gotta end , for now
Not many people get to turn their bedroom into a bar and restaurant. It’s been a wild ride on this lil War Rig of a dream I had 6 yrs ago. I’ve been witness to many of celebrations, watched people on blind dates turn into couples that now have children, freshmen turn into seniors, wrap parties, every human crisis, all the drama, karaoke late nights, Elvira bingo, all the wings n a prayer scenarios, but most of all witness to the persistence of happiness and love in a half decade of uncertainty.
Running, bartending, cooking and owning a restaurant is not for the faint of heart.
Restaurants are like sports teams. Very few businesses are put up for evaluation like FnB. There is a lot of anguish and anxiety, constantly being judged, good or bad. Honestly, it’s excruciating. Lovers, haters, super fans, super critics, lifers, and Fairweatherers. Good seasons, bad seasons, dynasties, and transferable franchises. It’s a product, it’s a brand, it’s one person and at the same time 100 people. All the while you keep moving forward, managing, changing tactics and trying your best amongst unimaginable odds. A lot of emotions in these little places.
Proud of this little taco shop. Before Covid, we were originally supposed to be a bar with a small food program but opening protocol changed that and we went full on restaurant in the playbook overnight. Being one of the first restaurants to open during Covid and the political unrest was insane. Ssomehow we managed. Not bad for 4.5 yrs of service out of some guys bedroom that turned into a taco shop (the restaurant used to be my house I rented/the bar is literally where my bedroom was) * continued in first comment
