We are a small cheesesteak shop, located in Uptown New Orleans, located between Delachaise Lounge and Touro Hospital. We're dedicated to bringing you the best cheesesteaks you've ever had! We are very passionate about our sandwiches, our business, and our customers. We offer free arcade games to play while you wait for your food, indoor & outdoor seating, a large TV for sports watching, and a family friendly environment so you can bring the kids! We are also BYOB with no corkage fee.

Spent today working on items for our new Grab n Go fridge. Still a work in progress, but we have some house made soups, tuna salad, and we’ll have side salads and Caesar side salads available this week! We just had our last meal at Gris Gris.

We left feeling empty.

Despite being filled with delicious food, there was a pit in our stomachs knowing that this would be our last time at a place we consider a New Orleans institution. A place to celebrate with family and friends, or have a meal alone at the bar, a place we would recommend to everyone visiting New Orleans if they were looking for the real deal amazing NO experience.

We’ve been fans of Gris Gris from its opening, it served as great inspiration for our own opening in a lot of ways. We spent many night at rendezvous chatting with Cook. As we wrapped up the pop up shifts he would ask us “what’s next?”. Despite never working together professionally, Cook was and is a tremendous mentor. Before we even made a connection, Cook worked with my sister at the American Sector. Seeing them run into each other like old friends and having that wait, you guys know each other moment is something I’ll never forget.

Cook convinced us our next best move was opening the shop. Without his wisdom, assistance and motivation, we would probably still be slinging cheesesteaks in 100 degree heat and pouring down rain, but now Yinzers has a home. He gave us the real talks about the hard work opening your own place demanded. “Take everything you’re doing now and multiply it by 3 and then do it every day of the week. Making good food is easy, running a restaurant is hard.” (Not a real quote but an accurate paraphrase of a conversation from 6 years ago)

So thank you. To Eric Cook and To Robyn and everyone involved with Gris Gris. You all are an inspiration. And we’ll be there opening night for whatever comes next. I’ll dance at your funeral if you dance at mine. Go support your favorite local restaurants, you never know if you may be your last chance.
