In 1984, Carolyn and I were working in our family business, Fiorella's Fine Food. Our job was to order and stock everything that was sold "from the floor" of the grocery including frozen foods. My Dad was the produce buyer and he got up every morning at 3 o'clock and went to the French Market and bought all the produce we sold at the grocery. My Dad passed away suddenly in 1977 and I assumed the responsibility for buying the produce. One morning I went in to get my usual cup of coffee and Mr. Anthony told me he had to give up the place for health reasons. I don't know why he chose me, but he did. I went next door to finish loading my produce at Fouchi's and told Vic what Mr. Anthony said. The next day Vic told me the restaurant was mine if I wanted it! All the rest is history. We opened for business May 3 1985. Folk ask, “Why do you want to do this again?” We ask ourselves: Why? To our resolve, we're doing it again because we love it. Because we've heard hundreds of times "When are you going to open again?" or "We sure miss your food." And others miss the tradition…and such is revived through Kelly and Calcie, Carolyn and my dearest sons. The Fiorella name and good eats live on through them. ~C.J. Fiorella
