was formed by friends and family to compete in the annual charity BBQ competition “Hogs for the Cause.” Since 2013, the team has raised $30,000 for the families of children with pediatric cancer. In the fall of 2016 we opened Frey Smoked Meat Co. Open seven days a week from 11:00 to 10:00 pm Tuesday - Saturday and 11:00 to 9:00 pm Sunday and Monday, at 4141 Bienville in Mid-City Market. Our hand-built, 18 foot bar carries over 45 different beers and over 50 different whiskeys. Enjoy a beer on the patio while watching the game, or sit at the bar with a craft cocktail. We hope in some small way to bring back an old New Orleans memory with a little different twist in BBQ. The Frey family has been in the meat business for six generations in New Orleans. Frey became a local meat packing company in 1865, operating for over 120 years. Chef Ray and his brothers are great grandsons of Louis Frey who was the founder of L.A.
