About Our Mascot:
"The legend of Pulcinella was created by the playwright Silvio Fiorillo of The Commedia Dell Arte in 1609. Pulcinella is a comic character incarnating the ideals of the populace, having a complex, ambivalent, and ambiguous personality. He may act dumb or docile, but he is eloquent and courageous. He is always hungry. He is always in love. He is in touch with the sacred and mysterious, yet he is carnal and prone to jokes. He is the messenger who cannot speak, the underdog who wins, and the noble guardian of work and home. Tavern keepers, in particular, would always have Pulcinella on their signs as a guarantee of authenticity. Punch, the English puppet is a derivative of the Pulcinella character, as are roosters on bell towers and steeples in Germanic countries, and on weather vanes in America. The embodiment of the Pulcinella character is what we strive for in our work: to provide delicious food and fine wines, and a place to have fun, whether in the company of friends and family, or alone. It is with an immense and deep sadness that today we learn of the passing of our dear friend and loyal patron, Mr. Irvin Smith. He was kind, he was astute, he was clever, he was funny. He was a very special person to so many. His little family here at Eleven79 mourns him in our hearts but will never let all the fun, happy times in these years we spent together ever leave us. Love and peace to you, Irvin.

It's been a bright shining weekend, our little place was graced with the presence of great stars both Friday and Saturday...big thanks to Ms. Halle Berry, Mr. Andy Garcia, and Mr. Ed Harris. It was our distinct pleasure.
