⚜️1814: PIERRE LAFITTE ESCAPES⚜️On September 6, 1814 at 2:30 in the morning, Pierre Lafitte, older half-brother of Jean Lafitte, escapes the Calabozo, a notorious New Orleans prison, with the assistance of attorney Edward Livingston, who snuck in a metal file hidden in a book. Wanted Posters for $1,000 were placed around town, but it was clear Pierre had already made his way back down to Grand Terre Island in Barataria Bay. ~Jean Lafitte🏴‍☠️👑

⚜️FAREWELL TIM CURRY 1946–2026⚜️ Today, we lower our colors and bid farewell to one of our brethren of the sea, the incomparable Tim Curry.

As the unforgettable Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, he gave us a pirate brimming with danger, mischief, humor, and heart. Like every great buccaneer, he commanded the screen the moment he stepped aboard and left behind a legend that will sail on forever.
