Southern BBQ Catering Affair
Dwain Klatt, originally the BBQ KING from Barneveld, NY, started his bbq journey about 20 years ago. Dwain and his buddy decided to take a road trip to Nahunta, Georgia. Lang Smokers to be exact. Dwain drove down and back with his new prize behind him. He started out selling in front of DeSantis Meat Market and moved to the small golf course building and then to another location on the main thoroughfare in Barneveld. With gas prices rising and people traveling less, it hindered the business and the BBQ King closed.
From there Dwain was absent from the bbq arena for about five years. In 2010 he joined partnership with Jacqui Passalacqua and began Southern BBQ Catering Affair. In 2013, Dwain decided to take another road trip to Colorado. He was absent for about 2 years and decided to return to Central NY for another go at NYS living.
In 2018 Dwian’s daughter was getting married and wanted her dad to cater the wedding. So here we go again, why not! Dwain again went to Nahunta, Georgia and bought another Lang Smoker. For 2 years we worked from a tent at Cupolo Auto at 2814 Genesee St., Utica, NY.
This year Dwain made another road trip to purchase a concession trailer out of Georgia. We upgraded and boy does it make things a little simpler! We originally began this strictly for our retirement. So far it seems to be working well. We are so thankful for all of our loyal customers. We have made wonderful friends and cannot express our gratitude for all of you.
