Inspired by my grandmother's adventurous spirit and entrepreneurial drive, my grandmother and mother embarked on a creative journey as photographers and entrepreneurs in the bustling streets of New York City. Born and raised in Queens, New York, I carry the essence of my Colombian heritage in my heart. My grandmother, my cherished best friend and life mentor, nurtured my passion for cooking. Who was also taught how to cook by her grandmother whom she cherished dearly. Together, we would spend countless hours crafting delicious Colombian recipes, infusing each dish with love and care. She taught me the art of cooking from scratch, instilling in me the importance of honoring tradition and family. When my grandmother passed away, a void was left in my heart. Determined to keep her spirit alive, I founded Empanada Mama. Our empanadas and Aji (a traditional Colombian salsa) are made with the same love and dedication that my grandmother poured into her artwork and her family. Each bite tells a story of resilience, hard work, and a deep-rooted love for our culture. As I stand here today, I am reminded of my grandmother's unwavering strength. She overcame adversity and embraced the opportunity to build a better life in the United States. A pesar de sus dificultades, logró vender su arte en todo el mundo e inmigró a Estados Unidos para brindar una vida mejor a nuestra familia. Inspirada por el espíritu aventurero y emprendedor de mi abuela, mi abuela y madre emprendieron un viaje creativo como fotógrafas y empresarias en las bulliciosas calles de la Ciudad de Nueva York. Nacida y criada en Queens, Nueva York, llevo la esencia de mi herencia colombiana en mi corazón. Mi abuela, mi querida mejor amiga y mentora en la vida, cultivó mi pasión por la cocina. Ella también aprendió a cocinar de su abuela a quien apreciaba profundamente. Juntas, pasábamos incontables horas elaborando deliciosas recetas colombianas, infundiendo cada plato con amor y cuidado. Ella me enseñó el arte de cocinar desde cero, inculcándome la importancia de honrar la tradición y la familia. Cuando mi abuela falleció, un vacío quedó en mi corazón. Determinada a mantener viva su esencia, fundé Empanada Mama. Nuestras empanadas y el Aji (una salsa tradicional colombiana) se elaboran con el mismo amor y dedicación que mi abuela depositaba en su arte y su familia. Cada bocado cuenta una historia de resiliencia, trabajo duro y un amor arraigado por nuestra cultura. Mientras me paro aquí hoy, me recuerdo de la inquebrantable fortaleza de mi abuela. Ella superó la adversidad y aprovechó la oportunidad de construir una vida mejor en Estados Unidos. Su legado impulsa mi determinación de honrar su memoria y compartir nuestra historia de amor, cultura y gastronomía colombiana con el mundo.
