Hi all. As you may have noticed and seen, Ivan and I have been out a lot the past week. As it’s just the two of us, it has been very tough. I want to thank everyone who has supported us and has been patient with us through our crazy schedule.
My father, Miguel Gomez, was the true definition of a superhero. He was an immigrant in this country, raised my sister and me all by himself, worked harder than any person I’ve ever known, and loved unconditionally and selflessly. My life was turned upside down when my sister & I received news of an unexpected accident. The only parent we’ve ever had, at the age of 53, was taken too soon from this earth a week afterwards.
If you’ve visited us at Bloom, you’ve been a witness to his legacy. He crafted the stainless steel counter where you pick up your drinks, he built our bar with his own hands. Every success we have is a reflection of his sacrifice.
My dad was a master of everything he touched. Most of his life, he was a chef bringing Mexican cuisine to life in Nulu, but to call him just that would be an understatement. Ultimately, my dad never met a task he couldn’t complete. Whether he was DJing with Sonido Juventud Latina or spending his free time working on his beloved Super Beetle and other cars, he brought life, happiness, and passion to everything he touched.
Above all, Dad was a family man and the ultimate girl dad. My mother was never in the picture. It was only him, my sister, and me, as she decided to walk out of our lives very young. He worked endless hours, but it never affected his ability to be a good father. He dedicated his life to my sister Michelle and me, raising us like princesses, and his grandsons, Mike and Manok, whom he absolutely adored and spoiled. I only hope to live a life half as honorable as the one he lived.
We will also be closed on Saturday, February 14th, to celebrate my dad’s life at St Mary’s Catholic Church. We are working out a way to offer some pre-made items on Saturday if you would still like to support us that day. Additionally, we will have extended hours on Friday, the 13th 7am-7pm and will be open 8am-5pm on Sunday, the 15th. Thank you all - Marjony Gomez
