New Albany High School football 1960. The perfect season.

The Perfect Season

The 1960 New Albany High School football team holds a legendary status in local school sports history as the school's first-ever perfect, undefeated football season.

Led by head coach Ramon "Ray" DeCola, the Eagles finished the 1960 campaign with an unblemished 9–0 record. The accomplishment stood as the lone undefeated record in school history for six years until it was matched again in 1966.

Key Historical & Factual Details
The Coach (Ray DeCola): After completing a four-year stint in the U.S. Army following his collegiate football career at West Liberty University, Ray DeCola began his storied Ohio high school coaching career at New Albany. He achieved the rare distinction of winning over 100 games across five different sports (football, basketball, baseball, track, and tennis) over his career. DeCola was later inducted into the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association (OHSFCA) Hall of Fame in 2006.

Season Record: 9 wins, 0 losses.

Milestone Era: In 1960, New Albany was a small, rural township school district competing in Central Ohio's small-school divisions long before the community and high school football playoff structures expanded in Ohio (which began in 1972).
