Final week with Coryon Redd on the Annex walls 💛

If you’ve been eyeing one of his woodblock prints, now’s the time. We’re offering 20% off Coryon’s woodblock prints through the final day of his show, Sunday 9/20.

Come check out his creative, playful work, find a favorite, and take a little piece of Nevada City home with you. 🌲🫀🌸

We’ve loved having Coryon’s work fill the space this season and are excited to send a few more pieces out into the community before the show comes down.

Vanilla mochi cake, but dressed for September. 🍐

Vanilla mochi cake topped with pear butter, fresh sliced pears + a big swoop of hand whipped cream.

A little sweet, a little spiced, a little late-summer-meets-fall. And honestly, almost too pretty to eat. Almost. 🌸

Come grab a slice while she’s on the dessert board.

Late summer in a bowl 🍅🌿

Our Cherry Tomato Feta Salad is on lunch special, loaded with local Starbright Farms cherry tomatoes, cucumber, feta, red onion, fresh basil + arugula, finished simply with olive oil and lemon and a slice of toasted sourdough.

Fresh, crunchy, salty, juicy, herby. Basically everything August is doing right now, on one plate.

Come get it while the local tomatoes are showing off. 🍅✨

Sometimes the best things on the menu are the ones hiding in plain sight.

If you’ve never ordered the Annex Kids Karaage Hot & Sweet, this is your sign.

It’s a half portion of our gluten-free organic fried chicken tossed in our favorite combo: local organic honey + our housemade chili crisp.

Sweet, spicy, crispy…

We like adding a side of fresh veggies and a little sriracha mayo to turn it into the perfect petite meal, or keep it as the elevated side or protein add on.

Peak summer has officially arrived. 🌽

Our fire roasted local corn is back and it’s everything we want to eat this time of year. Charred sweet corn piled high with sriracha mayo, gochujang, parmesan, fresh lime, and herbs. Messy in the best way.

Come soak up a little August in Nevada City!

🥚 Farmer Spotlight: Back to Basics Farm 🐓

Every week, Justin and his family at Back to Basics Farm deliver fresh eggs straight to Heartwood. They’re collected by hand, and it’s truly a family effort. Even the kids help count eggs before they head our way. 💛

We love knowing exactly where our food comes from, and we think you’ll taste the difference. Their hens are raised with care and fed an organic, no-corn, no-soy diet, producing beautiful eggs that show up in so many of your favorite Heartwood dishes.

🥚 This week’s trivia…

How many eggs do you think we go through in one week at Heartwood?

👇 Drop your guess before you keep reading!

…

The answer? About 1,000 eggs every single week. 🤯

And with Hot Summer Nights and Art Walk bringing everyone downtown this week… we have a feeling that number might be even higher.

A huge thank you to Justin and the whole Back to Basics family for helping us serve fresh, local food every day. We couldn’t do it without neighbors like you.
