I normally don’t make posts like this, but I believe something needs to be said about the value of professional cleaning services.
Recently, I took time out of my day to travel to a potential commercial client’s location, walk through the property, discuss their cleaning needs, and look at what would be required to properly service the account.
The expectation was to have TWO separate buildings professionally cleaned for $90 total.
That’s $45 per building.
As a cleaning business owner, I have to respectfully say: professional cleaning companies deserve better than that.
When you hire a legitimate cleaning company, you’re not just paying someone to walk into a building with a mop and spray bottle.
You’re paying for LABOR.
You’re paying for cleaning products and supplies.
You’re paying for professional equipment.
You’re paying for transportation.
You’re paying for insurance and legitimate business operating expenses.
You’re paying for cleaners who deserve to receive fair compensation for physically demanding work.
And most importantly, you’re paying for a professional, reliable, high-quality, and efficient cleaning service.
You’re paying for a company to show up when they’re supposed to show up. You’re paying for consistency. You’re paying for attention to detail. You’re paying for professionalism. You’re paying for accountability. And you’re paying for the peace of mind of knowing that your property is being properly cared for.
And yes — the cleaning company itself has to make a reasonable profit in order to stay in business.
Cleaning is HARD WORK.
We scrub toilets. We clean floors. We disinfect surfaces. We remove dirt and buildup. We bend, lift, vacuum, mop, wipe, scrub, and pay attention to details that most people don’t even notice until they’re dirty.
There’s also something else businesses and homeowners should understand: our time has value too.
When you ask a professional company to travel to your property, walk through multiple buildings, discuss the scope of work, evaluate your needs, and prepare pricing, that company has already invested time and resources before the first cleaning ever takes place.
We completely understand that every homeowner and every business has a budget.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a budget.
But there is a difference between looking for a fair price and expecting professional-level service at a price that doesn’t realistically support the work required.
And customers should do their homework too.
Not every cleaning company provides the same quality of service. Research the company you’re considering. Look at their reviews. Look at their reputation. Ask whether they’re insured. Look at their professionalism, reliability, communication, consistency, and attention to detail.
One bad experience with a cleaning company does not represent the entire cleaning industry.
There are legitimate cleaning companies out here that take tremendous pride in their work. There are companies that will search for the dirt others overlook, stand behind their work, and do everything possible to leave your property looking exceptional.
Don’t automatically choose the cheapest company. Choose the company that provides VALUE.
Professional cleaners should not have to continuously lower their worth just to secure a contract.
We respect our customers.
We respect their properties.
We respect their budgets.
And we’re simply asking for that same respect to be shown to the professionals doing the work.
Professional cleaning has value. Professionalism has value. Reliability has value. Quality has value. Efficiency has value. Our cleaners have value. And our time has value.
Quality work deserves fair compensation.
Please respect the cleaning industry. 🧹
