RIP Randy. He made sure to come see us in our last days. He was always there, always answered the phone. One of our parents oldest and dearest friend.. And also a colleague. Devastated to hear this news and for his boys whom he absolutely adored. Nashville will miss you and all the friends you've made along the way. Fly high.

30+ years ago... When Dad brought Mom down to make some changes...She found her menus! We are still sifting through boxes and shredding with less than 2 weeks left before we hand over the keys. These are 3 different successions. Man those fried mushrooms were good! Notice the ..

Mom, Jo, Mama Jo…this incredible woman has been the glue to this business, and the Pub wouldn’t be what it is today without her. From her magnetic personality and smiling face that greeted you when you walked in the door, to her uncanny ability to wear many hats, she was the icing on the cake for 41 years. Our family and community are changed because of you, Mom, and we thank you. ❤️

The first day of a new year…a time of reflection.

Our parents started a legacy of incredible service, made-from-scratch recipes, ice cold beer, and an atmosphere that feels like home, and we want to take a moment to remember our late father, John Dean.

Dad was the vision behind the restaurant, naming the pub after the nearby city-owned McCabe Golf Course, which was one of the few landmarks people outside the neighborhood had heard of back in ’82.

While he may have had a sports bar in mind for the original concept, we know he had long-term dreams of creating a Nashville institution – and that he did. McCabe quickly became an anchor of the neighborhood, attracting a diverse crowd of customers from all over town for its menu of scratch-made recipes.

We have missed Dad every day since his passing in 2012, but we have always felt his presence, and his passion for creating a safe space for everyone.

We know he is so proud, and we are too. 💚

It’s been a big week in the Dean family, but we are closing still believing in McCabe Pub and what we built over the decades.

For more than 40 years, we’ve welcomed multiple generations of customers through our doors offering great food, a fun environment and a tight-knit community. We couldn’t be more thankful for the time and memories made on the corner of Murphy Road and 45th Avenue North, and we are especially grateful for all of you.

We are wishing you and your families a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you for a few more memories at the Pub in January!

It’s been the ride of a lifetime, Nashville. YOU – our steadfast customer base – transformed us over the years to be a go-to, everyday restaurant with damn good food.
 
…In 1982, we started as a dive in a depressed, unknown neighborhood (but one our father grew up in and cherished) with one of the first “big screen TVs” for gathering and watching UT football.
 
…Entering the next decade, we evolved into a popular business lunch and dinner spot—a dive we were no more! Our dad used to tease, “My wife ruined a perfectly good sports bar.” 
 
…In 2002, Stef took over all operations, and Katie joined her a few years later. But Mom was always in the wings, never too far away.
 
…In the latter 20 years, we’ve weathered more storms than ever could have been predicted: A major recession, flood, a restaurant boom that hasn’t ended, destructive tornadoes, Covid-19 shut downs, major West Nashville changes, and more.
 
But we came out ahead…and gosh, we sure will miss this. ❤️

To our beloved community:

Today, we announce that McCabe Pub will close our doors after 41 years in business. This is an emotional and personal decision that was not made lightly but is in the best interest of our family and the business. After decades of serving this strong community, we are ready for the next chapter, and we are confident we are leaving all of you in good hands.

The good news? We are open for a few more weeks (official last day of service to be announced soon) to end our four-decade streak on a high note! We hope you will come see us for one more ice-cold beer, made-from-scratch veggie plate, slice of homemade dessert, or the best cheeseburger you’ll find in Nashville. 🍔

It has truly been an honor serving this community, and we will never forget each and every one of you – the memories made here on the corner of Murphy Road and 45th Avenue North will last us a lifetime.
