Jack grew up in Asheville where he learned how to cook the old southern way from aunts and his mother. He work in restaurants on and off almost his entire life. He moved to Nashville to attend Vanderbilt where he worked in the cafeteria to pay for his tuition, one of his many jobs to pay for school. In 1981, Jack was given the opportunity to take over rent at a restaurant on 8th Ave that couldn't

make ends meet. Jack took the opportunity and changed the menu to make it his own. He finally got to use all of his favorite recipes from his lifetime of learning. He called the restaurant Arnold's Country Kitchen. Throughout the years Arnold's has been a patronized from Nashville locals of all walks of life. The ambience is full of Nashville's past with the pictures of past Vanderbilt sports teams, pictures of old Nashville, and original country stars such as Chet Atkins, Porter Wagoner, and Dolly Parton. Arnold's has gained recognition through several media outlets such as Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. New York Times, Southern Living, Garden & Gun, MAXIM, People and many more. Jack and Rose Arnold have been awarded a James Beard American Classic award in New York. Arnold's is now ran by Jack's children and wife who have kept his recipes to his standards. Recently Arnold's has opened up a 2nd location in Green Hills at 2209 Abbot Martin Road
