The Prosser family has been in business since 1975, provides great Southern food in a home like setting, with friendly service, and private room accommodations. You will be greeted with a smile and welcomed into our dining room with gas fireplace and chandelier lighting. We offer a buffet of homemade salads, vegetables, entrées, bread and desserts while our friendly wait staff assist you with your beverage and table service. We are not gourmet, we are homemade. We offer a simple selection of our best foods everday. We do offer variety, and some menu items change daily. We want to take this time to explain our serving procedures...

We are a buffet. You choose your food. We will make your plate. You cannot serve yourself. You can return for a clean plate and food refill. Our food is on the hot and cold bars with full sneeze guards. Guests are not allowed to touch serving spoons. We are in full compliance with Metro codes. Thank you for understanding the changes that have been made for everybody's safety.

We want all of our customers to know we how much we appreciated you Christmas Day at the Restaurant. We know that many of you came on that special day and dined with us . It’s missed by many for this one day .But memories are the things we as thrive on to rediscover new things that are to come . This is an old War World 2 photo of Orlin James Prosser top right and his beautiful wife Margit Koch Prosser on his left . They met in Vienna Austria in 1945 and fell in love and married . She came thru Ellis island and Mr Prosser was waiting there for her . The settled in at the Carlisle PA Army station . They all came to start the Hermitage House Smorgasbord together in 1975 . The restaurant is now closed after all those years and the four family children retired as there parents had passed on thru the years . We miss all our customers and the employees who supported us over the years . True veterans in every way Mr Prosser fought in 2 wars as a Army combat soldier and served our nation well . He signed on at the age of 17 . He was not drafted but willingly signed his name to serve .
