IN THEIR OWN WORDS - The Story of Mike & Vicki
VICKI: Sylvan Lake in New York was where I first met Mike. I was 14, and he was going on 16.
MIKE: So I just looked across the camp road there and said, "Oh, who's that?" I gotta go over there and check her out.
VICKI: He was a skinny little kid.
MIKE: She was beautiful. You know, of course, it was the '80s with big hair, and we're playing hide and seek. We're playing flashlight tag and whatever else was going on.
VICKI: We dated for a few weeks. He lived in Fishkill, NY and I grew up in Chelsea, NY. And then that was about it. We did not connect again until I was 17. I was working at the Book and Record in the mall.
MIKE: And I went up to Book and Record store in the South Hills Mall to see another friend.
VICKI: And I was like, Oh, I haven't seen him in a long time. He looks really good.
MIKE: Yeah, I didn't know she worked there.
VICKI: I invited both Mike and Steve over to our graduation party.
MIKE: At 19, somebody says, Party. Yes, you'll go. She, I think, was actually dating a guy.
VICKI: I was actually dating another guy at the time, but, for some reason, couldn't wait for him to get there.
MIKE: Yeah, and then the other guy ended up going up the street to the other graduation party. From July 5th, 1986, we've been dating ever since.
VICKI: So we got married in 1991, and now we've been married 35 years.
