During the summer of 2019, The Dawg House set out to win a contest hosted by USA Today's local newspapers to determine the best Hot Dog in NY/NJ. The chances of winning were improbable, but something deep inside motivated me to go for it. After a few rounds we faced off against the legendary Callahan's. You know how the story ends. We won with the upset of a lifetime. What you probably didn't know is that the man behind our magical victory was a friend named Kevin Tucker. He directed our social media and created an ad campaign that was slick while still maintaining the small neighborhood feel of Clarkstown. Kevin called me fired up after every round and reminded me why I agreed to enter in the first place. I wanted to win for my cousin Christopher who has passed away that April while I was away in England for my dissertation defense. The morning that the results were unveiled Kevin text me one word that said it all: "Victory!". I'm not sure he realized he had helped me arrive at one of the best moments of my life. Earlier this week, I received the sad news that Kevin Tucker passed away suddenly. He is survived by his beautiful wife Benita Lipcer Tucker , his amazing Benjamin Tucker, and his daughter-in-law Rebecca. Today, Benita is spending her first Valentine's Day in over three decades without Kevin. Please join me in expressing our condolences to Kevin's family and in sending extra special love and prayers to Benita. Thank you Kevin for helping the ultimate underdawg beat the odds and for kindness and love you always showed me. I know my Cousin Christopher was there to welcome you to Heaven with tremendous gratitude for all you did for the Dawg House family. You will be missed by many, which is truly the measure of the amazing man that you were in this world. I'll never forget you or the way you touched my life at a time when I needed it most.
