The hotel sits on the beach just one mile from the center of Nantucket. This allows for our guests to be close enough to easily enjoy all of its shops, restaurants, and quaint cobblestone streets, while also being far enough away to luxuriate in the peace and quiet of an oceanfront room. The beautiful private beach offers guests something other hotel in Nantucket can offer, which in an intimate resort setting and such close proximity to a vibrant and historic town. Our guests have the freedom on how to start their day. Perhaps a morning workout at Nantucket’s finest gym in the best way to wake up or slowly waking up slowly under an ideally sheltered pool area before heading out to the beach for the afternoon. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail at the private bar overlooking the beach or perhaps take your drink back to your own private deck and watch the sun set into the ocean right before your eyes. Spend the day exploring downtown, wandering the cobblestone streets, shops, and galleries, then return to Cliffside and your waterfront room as the afternoon light begins to soften. Take a walk along our private stretch of North Shore beach, linger on the historic pavilion, or take a dip in one of our three heated pools. As evening settles in, head down to the beach for sunset before returning to your beachside room with the sound of the shore just outside.

Summer may be winding down, but some of the most beautiful days at Cliffside are just beginning.

Who says Labor Day means the season is over? There’s another month to go, and September on Nantucket is a locals’ favorite for a reason. Warm beach days, lounging poolside in the dunes, cocktails at sunset and exploring the island’s historic downtown add up to perfection 30 miles out to sea.

Possibly the second-best summer job on Nantucket?

After Chip and his trusty 1998 Jeep “Sandboni” make the first pass, raking our beautiful North Shore beach, the Cliffside beach staff takes it from there.

Every morning in the summer, weather permitting, they walk the beach in unison, meticulously clearing anything the Sandboni missed, from debris to sharp sticks, before measuring and marking out the day’s umbrella lineup and setting our signature umbrellas based on the day’s conditions.

And once the beach is ready for the day, this is where they stay: hanging out on the now pristine beach, setting up chairs for guests and members as desired, and making sure everyone has what they need.

As we head into September, a big thank you to our amazing beach staff for keeping our little stretch of Nantucket looking its best all summer long.

It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it. 😉
