This past month has definitely been an unexpected one… 3 weeks into settling in with a newborn and our family of now 7, hurricane Lala swept through our beautiful town leaving things much different than before. Being without power for 9 days and water for 7 really put a twist into daily life for us and many many others in Ka’u. Our little families coffee shop is situated right beside the path of where one of the major landslides took place in Naalehu. By the grace of God everything inside the coffee shop was untouched by the devastation which we are so grateful for. Although the inside was okay, the grounds surrounding where we do business has been completely covered leaving us with an uncertainty of when we will be able to reopen. We are still waiting to hear back on whether or not the structure is safe to continue to do business in or not. Till then we are hoping for the best results to re-open and continue to serve our community. We have been so blown away by the support and love that has been shown by our small town. Neighbors helping neighbors, donations from all around the island, hot meals being distributed and just all around aloha! We wanted to thank everyone who has reached out and supported us in this time, we are so grateful!
