Scorpio's Kiss

Scorpio's Kiss "Scorpio's Kiss: (A Murder Mystery Musical) "Scorpio's Kiss" is an original two-act satire on the classic "whodunnit?" genre. Phone 497-5000.

The plot involves Sherlock Holmes' great-great-grand niece with a traveling theatre troupe, in a small town "Murder Most Foul". "Wicked Gift", a local alt/pop rock group, will provide the on-stage musical accompaniment. The score consists of classic "WG" original songs, (plus five new numbers written specifically for the show), all sung by the actors. The actors are largely drawn from Stefanie Cran

e's "Avant-Garde Theatre Troupe", who most recently performed "Rocky Horror" at Drink! in downtown Myrtle Beach last November, 2010. The show will be staged at the "79th Avenue Theatre" (in the old Academy building), on bypass 17 in Myrtle Beach, on Saturday Night, April 9th, at 8:00 pm, and Sunday afternoon, April 10th, at 3:00 pm. There will be a soft drink concession during intermission. After the Saturday Night show, there will be a meet and greet with the cast at "For What It's Worth" , (on Bus 17, near the intersection w/ 79th Ave, N., by "Collectors Restaurant and Gallery" and Sams' Corner". Tickets will be general admission, $10.00, sold at the door. Please be advised that due to some adult language and content, no one under 13 will be admitted unaccompanied. (This advisory will also be posted at the venue door at show time.) There will be a chance to meet and party with the cast and crew at a post-show "Meet & Greet", Saturday Night, April 9th, at "For What It's Worth"
(7710 N. Kings's Hwy), down the street from Collector's Cafe and Art Gallery, and Sam's Corner. Music will be provided by local DJ favorites, "Catpuncher & The Mayor".

Probably need to record these songs for real at some point; the only place you can hear them now is on the DVD of the live show ... Soon as we stage "Eventide", I'll revisit this one ... :)

I keep thinking I should re-vamp this show at some point. I still like the music, but I think the script could be tighter, and would benefit from a lighter, more comedic approach. Waiting on the right rainy day ... :)

Thanks Robert! This site has been getting activity from all kinds of weird places lately; going to have to ramp up the content here and think about this show some more ...

"Scorpio" edited DVD's of the Sunday, April 10th, 2011 performance at 79th Ave. Theatre, (formatted for standard players), are now available (finally) and are free for the asking for cast, crew, and band. Trying to get a viewing party together for Saturday Night, labor day weekend for all interested. They cost me around $8.00 apiece, so if anyone else wants one, I'll accept a donation :) -pfox

Whew! After a three month's "romp in the world of make-believe", life's finally getting back to normal. I'd like to thank cast, crew, audience, and venue; couldn't be more thrilled with the final result. BTW: check out "Moonlight & Magnolias", next big show at 79th Ave. Theatre starting the last week in April! pfox

Wow! Final dress rehearsal tonight. In the beginning, when it's just a blank page, it's all about telling a story. Then you go through a million changes with cast, crew, props, venue, sound, lighting, music, promotions, the whole crazy deal. And in the end, it's all about telling a story. Amazing, amazing process ......

Wicked Gift is pleased to announce that world-renowned EWI (Electric Wind Instrument) artist Bernie Kennerson will be joining us onstage for both of this weekend's performances of "Scorpio's Kiss." Music to our ears....

A performance by a traveling theatre troupe in a small town results in the lead actor's death. Was it murder, or "death by accidental overdose"? Tracy Holmes, (Sherlock's great-great-grand niece) is recruited to find out. A final plot twist puts the sting in this scorpion's tale.....

As we're closing in on showtime, (a little over a week away), I'd like to take a moment to appreciate Thom Penn and Atlantic Stage for sponsoring "Scorpio's Kiss" at 79th Ave Theatre. When I first met Thom, he told me part of their mandate was to showcase new works. How awesome is that?
Part of our mandate is to create them. pfox
