My name is Sandy Word. We started our Which Wich Murrieta journey almost four years ago, having the honor to begin the business with my husband and son. From the beginning the community has embraced our business and supported all we do. Giving back is so important and a mission of everything we do. We had the ability early on to partner with the Murrieta Food Pantry to deliver 50-75 PBJs every Friday. Giving back is in our heart and what we do!
We began the journey to survive COVID believing we might not make it. We did not have any doubt that we would do everything possible to stay open and support the community that has done so much for us. In the beginning we prepared our employees for the worst.
We begin our marketing efforts by doing lots of social media, reaching out weekly to businesses we knew were essential and might need catering and sending out special offers to our Loyalty members. The community, our loyal customers and businesses came into support us. Our sales were down 30%, not easy to overcome, but again we were open so better than many. We did not have to lay off any of our employees, one has been off as she is high risk due to diabetes and autoimmune disorder.
Doing business has definitely changed, we offer curb-side for every order, customers are no longer filling out their bags we are filling them out at the cash register, cleaning more than ever, wearing masks and gloves. It is all good we feel very blessed to be here and doing business in our fabulous community.
